We have named our 2014 Estate Shiraz William, in honour of my Great Grandfather William Meehan who immigrated from Tipperary in 1854. He, like so many other new migrants to the Colony, made his way to the Victorian goldfields with his new wife Catherine (Sheehan, also from Tipperary).
William was tragically killed in a mine collapse at a place called New Year flat, close to Fryers Creek (now known as Fryerstown)
150 years ago on the 12th of May 1865.
An almost mystical and a complete coincidence is that we bottled our 2014 wines on the same date as his burial, May 14th!

William left a wife and 5 young children, one of whom was my Grandfather, Cornelius then 4 years old.

2014 “William”

Tasting notes:

Dark inky red; a very densely packed bouquet with loads of ripe dark fruits, brambly notes backed by eucalyptus and an earthy complexity; full-flavored, with succulent and densely packed fruit, long and powerful.

2014 “Heathcote Shiraz”

The bouquet carries  rich dark berries, soft French oak tannins, white pepper and a hint of eucalyptus.
Very similar to our 2013 – not surprising as the fruit was sourced from the same vineyards.  This is a beautifully balanced wine, with delicious  rich fruit, balanced acid and silky tannins, and our trade mark lingering

2013 “Heathcote Shiraz”

Right in the slot of Heathcote shiraz. A generously flavoured, medium-bodied palate travels in the black fruit lane, but pulls a trick on the finish, veering into red fruit territory. Surprises can be good.

2015 “Tempranillo”

Tasting notes:

This is only our second Tempranillo.  The fruit is grown in the north of the Heathcote region where the climate is closer to the warmer “home” of Tempranillo, in Spain. This variety is usually at peak ripeness when sugar levels are higher and acid is lower, resulting in a softer palate with higher alcohol. Matured with minimal oak contact, this wine bears an explosion of all the complex cherry, herbal, plum and spice flavors on the palate, beautiful mouth feel and a full flavored finish.

A compliment to almost any food, but particularly well paired to savory dishes.

Rated with the Top VIC 100!

2014 “Chardonnay”

Our Chardonnay is back!

Finally bottled, this unwooded
Chardonnay has had extended
lees contact that brings an
added breadth to the palate.

Cellar door only.
